In the news today: Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin released a pomp-rich but substance-thin editorial announcing his opposition to a Democratic voting rights bill because … Republicans don’t like it. Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows is now known to have pressured the Justice Department to open investigations supporting pro-Trump election hoaxes, an act apparently intended to further sow doubt on the election results in the weeks before Trump would mount a last-ditch attempt to overturn the election by organizing a mob of violent supporters to intimidate Congress into do so.
