Obama Normalizes Relations with Cuba
As far back as 2009, members of the Congressional Black Caucus had recommended that President Obama normalize relations between Cuba and the US and push for a lifting of the decades-old U.S. trade embargo on Cuba. The CBC sent delegations to Havana to dialogue with Havana in pursuit of normalizing relations between the two long-estranged countries. VOA’s Michael Bowman reports from Washington, where members of the Congressional Black Caucus spoke after returning from a previous trip to Cuba. They met there with the current and former presidents of the island-nation, Raul Castro and his elder brother, Fidel.
